REGULATING THE BEAUTY & AESTHETIC SCIENCE INDUSTRY

10 Oct 2016, KM

Malaysia’s Beauty & Aesthetic Science landscape will enter a landmark phase of progress on 03 November, 2016. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing will take place between Standards Malaysia, IPEC BUREAU and the Association of International Certified Aesthetician. The MoU not only illustrates the Malaysian government’s commitment towards public–private partnership, but also to establish a framework for cooperation in the Beauty & Aesthetic Science industry.

The framework includes enhancing research and development, industry information sharing, training, awareness and talent development through the ISO/IEC17024 Certification of Persons. This is an extremely crucial development as it recognises the importance of addressing the quality and safety issues of an industry that has largely remained unregulated. It also helps practitioners attain the required certification to gain credibility on the strength and merit of their personal qualifications, professional recognition and skill-based competencies.

This event will also see Standards Malaysia launch a book to commemorate their 20th Anniversary followed by a media luncheon session with Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, YB Datuk Seri Panglima Madius Tangau.

After 03 November, 2016, the question that will be asked of practitioners is…ARE YOU CERTIFIED?
