KOTA KINABALU: DISCOVER Wellness will bring beauty and health awareness to the people here beginning Friday.

Its three-day exhibition will provide visitors with information on beauty, health products and services.

Fifty companies are participating in the exhibition, which is supported by the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry, International Personal Certification (IPEC) Bureau, Standards Malaysia Department and state Tourism, Environment and Culture Ministry, and City Hall.

The organiser is Discover Kota Kinabalu.

Its managing director, Arthur Lee, said the exhibition was timely as there were city folk who didn’t pay attention to health awareness despite the existence of such services.

“Young people usually do not care until they reach a certain age. From our study, we have discovered that those who are 40 and above, are the ones who search for information on health.

“Therefore, there is a need to raise health awareness, especially among young people, because having a healthy skin, body and mind is important,” he said yesterday.

Lee also said the exhibition was an opportunity for young people to enquire about health, beauty and fitness from experts.

IPEC Bureau’s Beauty and Health Science head Dr Ng Wee Kiong said beauty went hand in hand with health.

He encouraged professionals dealing with beauty and health to join a certification scheme under IPEC to gain credibility as it would provide assurance of safety to consumers.
